Press Kit

Last updated 2026-06-17 (v3.2.0 release) · For journalists, bloggers, podcasters, and anyone writing about Advisor Prep Hero.

Advisor Prep Hero is the private intelligence layer for a law practice: a local-first desktop app where a firm's documents, email, and matters live under the attorney's control, and where every question the attorney asks is answered with cited, verifiable sources. Word (.docx) is the first-class format, with tracked changes and AI redline built in. Recall is matter-scoped so context from one client's files cannot bleed into another. AI requests go directly from the user's machine to their own provider under their own API key, or through a firm zero-retention proxy in Assured mode, never through an Advisor Prep Hero content server. The firm tier adds SSO via OIDC, an encrypted workspace vault, and live multi-user .docx co-editing with end-to-end encryption enforced at the relay layer. Built by Jameson Daines, a Senior Product Designer with a decade in health-tech, on weekends and evenings.

This page contains everything you need to write about Advisor Prep Hero without emailing me first: logos, screenshots, creator bio, fact sheet, brand colors, and pre-written descriptions in three lengths. Take what you need.

Advisor Prep Hero is the private intelligence layer for a law practice: Word-native, matter-scoped AI recall, local-first, with your data never on an Advisor Prep Hero server.

Long-form (~340 words)

Advisor Prep Hero is the private intelligence layer for a law practice: a local-first desktop app where a firm's documents, email, and client matters live under the attorney's control, and where every question the attorney asks is answered with cited, verifiable sources. The architecture is designed around the constraint that professionals bound by confidentiality obligations face. There is no Advisor Prep Hero content server in the path between your machine and the AI provider. Your prompts go directly to the provider of your choice under your own API key, or through your firm's zero-retention proxy in Assured mode. With Ollama, nothing leaves your machine at all. Advisor Prep Hero never sees your work.

Word (.docx) is the primary format. The in-house OOXML engine handles tracked changes and AI redline natively, so attorneys work in the format courts and opposing counsel actually accept. Recall is matter-scoped with cryptographic isolation, so context from one client's files cannot bleed into another. The AI indexes documents and email across a matter and returns answers with citations you can verify. Scanned PDFs are handled via on-device OCR before indexing. An always-visible egress indicator, a printable Data Map, and a confidentiality spectrum (Local-only, BYOK-direct, Assured) make the trust story honest and inspectable.

The v3.0 release (June 2026) added the firm tier: SSO via OIDC so firms can provision seats through their existing identity provider; an encrypted workspace vault where sensitive files are stored as AES-256-GCM ciphertext with keys in the OS keychain; and live multi-user .docx co-editing where the relay only ever stores ciphertext and ethical walls are enforced by key denial, not UI hiding. OCR for scanned PDFs and email import with matter-scoped cited recall also shipped in this cycle. Profession workflow packs cover legal, tax, consulting, and advisor workflows.

Advisor Prep Hero is built by Jameson Daines, a Senior Product Designer at a health-tech company who built it on weekends and evenings. The technology stack is Tauri 2 (Rust + WebView), React 18 + TypeScript, Zustand for state management, an in-house OOXML engine for Word editing, LanceDB for the local vector store. Mac (signed + notarized), Windows (Azure-signed), Linux (.deb / .rpm / .AppImage) with auto-update. Pricing: $468/yr Solo ($39/mo annual) · $948/yr Professional (includes one profession pack; $79/mo annual) · $1,548/seat/yr Firm (minimum 3 seats; $129/mo annual). Sold via LemonSqueezy.

Jameson Daines is a Senior Product Designer with a decade in health-tech, building Advisor Prep Hero on weekends from his home in the US.

Bio (one paragraph)

Jameson Daines is a Senior Product Designer at a US health-tech company, with a decade of experience designing healthcare and wearable products at Samsung and AstraZeneca. He holds dual Master's degrees from University College London in Behaviour Change and Entrepreneurship. He builds Advisor Prep Hero on weekends and evenings, alongside BehaviorUX (a behavior change canvas tool) and Healthful (an AI design copilot for healthcare designers). His personal site is jamesondaines.com.

Bio (full)

Jameson Daines is a Senior Product Designer with a decade of experience designing healthcare products and wearables, including UX strategy for Samsung's health monitoring ecosystem and medical device development at AstraZeneca. He holds dual Master's degrees from University College London in Behaviour Change and Entrepreneurship, and currently works as a Senior Product Designer at a US-based telehealth company.

Outside his day job, Jameson runs several side projects under his personal brand: jamesondaines.com (his portfolio), BehaviorUX (a public knowledge base and canvas tool for behavior-centered product design), Healthful (an AI design copilot for healthcare designers), and Heardify (a student mental health resource).

Advisor Prep Hero is the largest of Jameson's side projects, eighteen months of evening and weekend work that grew from a personal experiment into a paid commercial product. He builds it because he uses it daily, and because he believes professionals who handle confidential client work are structurally underserved by cloud-first AI tools.

Quotes you can use

Pre-written quotes for journalists who don't have time to interview. Use any of these as-is or as a starting point.

"The breaking point for me was when I'd been having a 2-hour conversation with Claude about pricing strategy, and a week later I couldn't find it. The friction was the copy-paste between the chat history and the actual document. Advisor Prep Hero puts them on the same screen, with the file as the source of truth."

"Local-first is not a concession, it's the privacy story. An attorney's prompts going directly to their own Anthropic or OpenAI account, under their own key, is verifiable in a way that 'we use your data to improve our models' never can be. Architecture is the privacy policy."

"BYOK isn't a limitation, it's the privacy story. Some users will hate the API key setup hurdle, that's fine, they're not who I'm building for. The people I'm building for already have an Anthropic account and care that their business plan isn't sitting in someone else's cloud."

"I've shipped Advisor Prep Hero in the same model BehaviorUX runs on: 5 to 10 hours a week alongside a full-time job. The 8-week launch ramp wasn't 8 weeks of full-time work, it was 8 weeks of consistent evening and weekend pushes, with a Claude session as my de facto co-founder for the operational work."
